Trust Is the Currency of Leadership

Navigating Relationships isn’t just about the people who are easy to lead; it’s about the ones who challenge your signal the most.
Leaders don’t earn credibility because their team is full of high performers. They earn credibility when they can take the team member they struggle with the most and help them rise to their highest level.
Every leader has that one person: The one who feels harder to connect with. The one whose reactions you can’t quite read. The one you mentally prepare for before every conversation.
People follow leaders who make them feel seen, valued, and capable; the person who challenges you most is the one who needs your intentionality most.
Today’s reflection: Choose one person on your team you find it hardest to connect with.
Ask yourself:
· What don’t I know about them?
· What assumptions have I been making to fill in the gaps?
· What signals am I sending that make the connection harder?
· What’s one thing I could learn about them to strengthen trust?
Leaders don’t deepen relationships by accident; they do it on purpose. Sometimes the biggest shift in your leadership signal comes from choosing to understand the person you’ve understood the least.
What’s one thing you could learn about that person this week?
